How can I tell the difference between the 351 c/w/m and the 385 series engines by looking at the motor itself?

Greetings staples76!

The 385 series has 7 valve cover bolts holds.  3 on the top and 4 on the bottom, none of the holes are on the front or rear ends of the valve cover.

The 351s, some w/6 & some w/7 bolts holes, always have holes on the front & rear ends of the valve cover.

Seeya!
