I've never switched out the columns, but it doesn't look too difficult.. I replaced the FMX in my car with a C6 from an elite, no problem at all.. (same shift linkage, same crossmember, etc)

Jim thanks for the info , it looks like a direct bolt up for the steering column, but i 'm concerned about the wiring harnesses between a column mount and a floor mount, i hope they are the same. tj |

When I changed from a regular gauge panel to the sport cluster, it was pretty straightforward (the cluster was from the Elite). I'll bet everything is bolt up / plug in.. Jim |

well that would be a great bonus, because the elite i have has that gage package, i got real lucky with this elite, it's rusty but only has 75,000 miles on her and the gentelman who owned her really took car of the interior, the result is a lot of great interior parts , i mean they look like new. i've seen pictures of your car jim, it looks outstanding. i only hope my comes out half as good. tom |

Thanks! Given the fact that I even found the plugs for power seats in my car, I don't think Ford made the cars that different in the mid 70's, especially within the same model.. My car is a driver, and looks better in pics than in person :-) You can't race a show car unless you're pockets are deep so the chips and dings just add character.. (So far, I've drag raced, autocrossed, and had my car on an open track, also had it north of 140mph, last thing I want to do is a real open road race, or the standing mile) Best of luck! Jim |
