what is the difference between these cars? i owned a 76 torino wagon for quite sometime and have sold it about 6 months ago and am now looking for a muscle, mostly a 69 charger but way out of my pricde range ;) haha but there is a 71 torino 500 in my area for sale with a 351c with a lot of goodies and only 7k on a rebuild for sale and i love the body style! What should I look out for and how much is the car worth? btw the drivers side is wrecked.. needs a door and quarter panel and probably a deck lid... also a pretty new rebuilt c6 tranny...
I know NOTHING about this style car, any help would be greatly appreciated!
thank you!
Chris

look for RUST in the cowl, torque boxes... everywhere

it may very well be worth 7k even wrecked if it's not a rust case
but body panels aren't cheap or easy to find either

Torino, 500 & Cobra are trim levels and can change the value dramatically
the VIN will tell you what specifically should be on the car mechanically and cosmetically

here's probably the best resource for pre-1972 Fairlanes & Torinos

i've read many times that the guys are not happy with the aftermarket 1/4 panels

ok cool! i just found a 71 torino 500 and the 1/4's are in good condition but the grill and hood are a little banged up... 302 with a c6 if i remember it correctly... factory green? is that worth anything?

a nice driver torino GT with a small block average price 8-10k
"                           " 500 with a small block ..                  5-8k
"                          " fairlane w/ a small block  ..                4-6k
big blocks and m/trans can add up to 5k on top of that price

 "                          " cobra torino w/a big block                18-25k

rough prices but in the ball park.

and if its a 302, it wouldnt be factory c6 behind it so be careful and verify what the seller is telling you.

too much difference and too many options for me to get involved in those cars.

At least with the 72-76 it is fairly easy to keep up with the options.

And yes the difference in the earlier models can be FAR different in prices!
$1k pos you find in a barn could be worth $40K or not worth the $1k you pay for it.
