For a road course car, IMO the 5.0 makes a way better basis than the iron block 6.2.  I'd rather have 500hp at the tires from a N/A coyote weighing 440 lbs and revving to 8400 than the same amount from a 640 pound 6.2 even with more tq but probbaly 1500 lower redline..

Even if you threw a lung at the 5.0, you still come in with far less weight on the nose than the 6.2 on it's own and the platform for the 5.0 is set up for a couple more advancements like DI. (and they've already seen 800+ at the tires on a pretty basic huffed 5.0)

Unfortunately, as cool as it is, the 6.2 one is going to be a good truck motor, a good drag motor, but not at home on a road course..  (and probably not around in 3-5 years if the ecoboost technology survives in real world ).

Heck, if you're going to spend $$ on modifying a 6.2 so you can have tq, the all aluminum 5.4 out of the 11+ GT500 makes sense..

Thoughts?

(I have to admit, I am a recent convert, after driving one in daily usage, the new 5.0 has really stunned me)

Wow. What an idea for the car. Even though I've tackled some ambitious projects in the past, splicing a CV and a Torino together sounds pretty daunting. That car pictured just looks pure bada$$. Nothing less.

There is a 2004 CVPI here locally with severe body damage for $1000. Frame, drivetrain is good, 120K miles. Thought about it for my F100, and may check into it when I get back in town. I would probably guinea pig the '75 if I were to attempt it, since I have chump change in it.

i'm going with  a 302, the 351w is a 100lbs heavier with a taller deck, 351 cleveland is too expensive to build and heavy too. I want the lightest block i can get, the 302 is a perfect candidate for the job, cheap, lost of parts available, and pretty light for cornering.

The car is gonna be set for the track, I'm still debating between a stout 347 or good 302 with 5-10 pounds of boost
