Ready to pull engine. 72 gts 351c 4spd heads off radiator out bell housing unbolted. I wanted to leave the tranny in. will it come out or do I have to yank the tranny first. Thanks Rick

It should come out . Put a floor jack under the bell housing and raise the jack as you raise the motor / trans assembly with chain falls or engine crane. After the motor mounts are clear of the crossmember put some forward pressure on the engine. It may take some shaking (and cursing) but the motor and trans should seperate (careful where you put your hands!!). The floor jack under the bell housing will keep the trans from falling when the motor comes free. Wouldn't hurt to spray penetrating oil where the motor and trans touch and let it soak for a while, it may have been in there for 40 years.

Its been in about 10 years. The last owner had it rebuild but not enough power for me. I unbolted the mounts from the engine so I don't need to raise it too high. I hope its not more trouble than its worth when I go to reinstall the engine. Thanks again
