    Posted: 02-February-2012 at 4:30AM
Hi all, I have a 74 Gran Torino Sport and it came with the air shocks in the back that didnt lift enough for me and kept leaking down so I replaced them with Torino wagon springs and put Moog isolators top and bottom... this gave me the rake I was looking for and she rides and handles a lot better..
the springs are from Autozone Part # RCS803V $88.99 pair... and the isolators are Moog part # K8291-2 ..... 2 isolaters in each box.... I think they were $8.99 a pair..
I hope this helps anyone looking for a good rake and hassle free better handling..
I made a similar post on another page and I think I did it on the wrong page anyway but I did not have all the part numbers at the time.

Nice Job!  Pics would be nice, if you can attach them!
PS- we have a WHOLE thread pinned to the top of this area just about springs & height, you will find the info very interesting!

I suspect the Autozone RCS803V Is a reboxed Moog CC803.

I would expect you are correct because the boxes the springs came in and the isolaters had federal mogul written on the boxes... very good quality products and I am happy to say all the parts are made in the USA...

Would this booster/spacer work with the wagon spring and isolaters for even more rake?...just curious.

It could be used but it would lift it too high.. the wagon springs lift it high enough.. I havent taken a side on picture of my car yet on flat ground so its not visible in my pics just how high it sits.. I will take a side on level pic later and add it to this reply..
I wouldnt like the extra part back there where it could possibly shift if the suspension bottoms out and bounces up going over harsh roads.

I agree with Justin.... 1 1/2" spacer block is really putting the coils close to being out of the spring pocket if not totally. I'm not familiar with how deep the pocket is???

Here's what I'm shooting for on mine.... (the TV rake)

and here is what I had on my LE back in the day....

If I can get some place in between, I'll be a happy camper!

Good luck!

I like Brian's method with those spacers on the bottom of the spring.

Those. They are all over ebay as well, in varying heights.

NICE RAKE!

So you have three insulators per spring? How thick are each insulator? Rides OK?

Yep, 3 per side...3/8 inch thick.. I was going to use 4 per side but didnt put the extra one on... I wanted to see how she sat first... and I was happy with what I ended up with..
the ride is great.. handles much better than with the air shocks. the ride is comfortable but not soft and bouncy.. it feels kinda handling tuned if you know what I mean.

Justin,

Is that 3/8" per spacer?? Have you done anything to the front springs?

Joe, yes 3/8 inch each.
no the front are origional... believe it or not the orig factory sticker is still on them..
it looks lowered in the front but it has just naturally settled to that height. I think the extra lift on the rear helps push the front lower a little.

my rims on the back are 10" wide, hope yours are the same..
the 275 sits real nice and flat and helps alot with cornering.. I dont get any leaning in the curves.
