Is there anything special that I should know about putting fiberglass directly on clean metal. I'm going to line the wagon trunk and tire well and prevent any future rust through and the rrunk can be used as a large ice chest. Also will make some ground effects parts when the time comes.
Thanx, Ray

I really don't do much fiberglass work especially on metal as it never seems to hold and cracks later.
You certainly don't want to do it over bare metal so just in case moisture gets between it don't rot it out. Also if your fixing rust holes with fiberglass it most likely will continnue to rotas fiberglass is porous and will hold moisture. The gelcoat that goes over fiberglass is the only thing that makes it water proof but just the resin itself is not. Reason boats use it is to cut down on weight but if left ram the fiberglass will get blisters and deteriorate so if you do it in plans of an ice chest/cooler make sure you put gelcoat over the resin to seal and make its so it holds water
