I'm rebuilding a 73 429, or what I was led to believe was. The intake is marked D3 which is definitely a 73. However the exhausts are marked C9. Were they also used on a 73 engine? Also with the cyl. heads, one is marked Dove C, and the other is marked C9VE-A. What's with that?

So much for the 73 engine! Looks like I ended up with a
69 460 punched .030 Whoo whoo! No cyl ridge, so the guy
wasn't lying about the rebuild. What does the .030 over
make it now (cubes). Can anyone recommend a good cam for
this? Should I jam in some flat tops or can I safely mill
the heads for increasing the compression? The heads I
mentioned were casts C9VE and DOVE Are the chambers good
enough to not bother? I want to use pump gas.
Oh yea! I'm assuming the "V" in the code stood for
Lincoln. Is that correct?

Just an update!

After much deliberation (checked the stroke) it turned out to be a 429 after all

Still looking for suggestions as to more horses!

The guy that runs this place:

http://www.reincarnation-automotive.com/index.html

Knows an quite a bit about the 460's. You may want to contact him. He can tell you exactly what each head style means and which ones you want. I don't know where in Canada you are, but he is in the Seattle area and does custom tuning, etc as well. His name is Scott Johnston.
