I'm trying to keep track of things on sedans/wagons that also fit from coupes or Elites or other Ford intermediates.
***** Here's a few, feel free to add to it: The whole front clip. Duh. Hood, bumper, fender, trim, header, grille, all that matches up OK. Bumpers for sedans are the same as coupes, matching the year of course, and the mounts and filler panels and license plate lights and tail lights and gas doors and everything else match up, too. Rear windows are the same on sedans as formal roof coupes, which also means the stainless trim and the rear window seals fit. Trunk lids also match coupe to sedan which means trunk seals and the rear panel where the latch is also matches. The armrests on 4-door sedans and wagons are the same piece as the rear armrests for coupes. The bases are probably different because of course, the coupes don't have rear door handles to have a cutout for. Coupe and sedan gas tanks are the same and fill from the same location dependent on year. Wagon and Ranchero tanks MIGHT be interchangeable. Some wagons have reserve tanks up in the quarter panel which are probably wagon specific. ***** And then there's parts that may or may not work and I'm not sure about. Bumpers for wagons, do they match the Ranchero ones? I know the tail lights work. Front row seats, well, the sedan/wagon ones match up but the coupes would have folding backrests. The seats would fit but sedan/wagon seats in a coupe would mean it'd be tough to get in the back and coupe seats in a sedan/wagon would have no need to fold forward. Back seats for coupes and sedans are the same, I think. Wagon seats would be different because they have to fold down, but the bottom cushion might interchange OK. Had 2 Google images side by side and came up with this:
Windshield/windshield trim/seal Marker Lights Door handles Quarter panel trim on 72-73 Dash Steering components wiper components 72-73 rear valances 72 front valances Dome light --------- I would think that the Ranchero/Wagon bumpers are interchangeable. My wagon's fuel door is located on the left quarter panel. No reserve tank. Edited by GTW - 31-May-2012 at 12:14PM |

A '79 Ranchero rear bumper will interch. with a '72 -'73 Torino/Montego wagon, but not with the anything newer, if that helps. Gas tanks not sure, might have to swap filler necks?

Tanks will not interchange between Ranchero and wagon. I just pulled one off in hopes of that - no dice.
Rear bumpers off 1972-79 Rancheros will work on 1972-'73 wagons, but brackets may have to be interchanged. Trailer hitches - same thing as above. Frame on a Ranchero is the same 118" wheelbase as a wagon. 1/4 panels ('72-'76)from midline down can be used as patch panels with slight modification (Tank opening, spare tire hump, etc). Coupe doors and Ranchero doors will interchange with a glass swap. |

Suspension will interchange across the board (Frame is different).

I didn't think the tanks would. The filler location is slightly different?

Filler location is below the body line on the Ranchero, above on wagons.

That's why it's such a pita to fill the tank on a Ranchero, the fill neck is almost horizontal.

I had forgotten all about that! Wow, I now remember, LOL. Fill <CLICK> Fill <CLICK> Fill <CLICK> Arrrrrgggggg!!!!
The tanks themselves are completely different. Ranchero is a flat tank that fits between the framerails by the rear bumper (like a sedan/coupe). |

Hey, are the doors on a '73 interchangeable with a '76? Don't know the '76 very well, and i may have a line on two nice doors off a '76...

I'd think you would have to change the trim pieces. 73 on top, 76 on bottom.
