Hi
I ordered a replacement window roller for my rear quarter window from Dearborn classic. Its the square roller and that fits nicely into the guide.  My question is, how does this eventually attach to the lifting arm mechanism?  I can drill/grind off the old one, but the new one has no threads, or anything to attach.  I did a search and they are referred to rivets for some reason.  Some people talk about bashing the rivit flat (seems a good way to break the glass) or pre drilling a hole and using a threaded screw (seems like micro surgery).

So, what is the SOP for putting in a new window roller?

I think you have to use pop rivets to hold them in.

i ran into the SAME problem.  i hesitate to say it but i tacked mine in.  welded it in with 2 little shots.  i can easily remove it if necessary, and it is solidly in.

Yeah, the welding seems to be the quickest/easiest way (even with my sub steller welding skills). I guess if I go through the whole process of cleaning 40 yr old grease off the innards and grinding out the old one, two quick tacks can't be that much more.

MMT, how would you pop rivet them?  I don't see any way to do that. Is there a special tool for this?

Thanks
