I appologize if this has been covered before. But, My GTS has a 302 and a cracked exhaust manifold. I would like to put a set of headers on it to fix the problem. When I go to a site like JEGS and put in my vehicle info the choices are very limited. I am looking for suggestiions on what really works. My preference would be ceramic coated or stainless and I dont really have an interest in replacing the factory dual exhaust.
Thanks,
Mike

Stock 86-92 Mustang GT headers work well.
Even almost bolt up to stock exhaust. A little cut and reweld of the down tube and presto... all set! |

the 302 is about the engine any maker(like Hooker) is still producing long tubes for, should be at least a couple good choices

I used the cheap hooker comp, fits well and just a little cut to do.
One thing though is the paint will barely last a week after you start the car. The cheapest goes around $130 for a set on summit. |

If I'm not mistaken, the coating on headers isn't high heat paint. It's just a cheap coating to keep them from rusting before use. The last time I read instructions it advised that the headers be blasted and coated before applying engine heat.

Mine had rust stop before use lol
Though it's a pain to have your brand new headers sent for paint. Depending on the price difference, I would see if coated unit wouldn't be easier on you. |
