My wagon has a piece of carpet stuck to one of the metal panels inside. The piece of carpet does not match the floor carpet. It is a more yellowish color. I think you can barely see it in this photo. Is it supposed to be there or was it added by someone else? The rear seat is down in the photo.

That was added carpet. Looks to be Sears Best 48oz cut pile in Sunset Gold. Faded, but still hanging in there!

I have seen that commercial at least a hundred times. It could be though, they existed in the 70's when this carpet was put in, but I wonder why they would put carpet in a car though.

I don't think I'm going to glue carpet everywhere, but I'm probably going to leave this piece in.

in my opinon I would loose the carpet and at least if you like carpet there install a new peice. You work harder and spend more on cleaning chemicals that it would be to pick up a cheap peice at your local carpet shop.

Good suggestion. I also have found an engine and transmission for the wagon. Going to look at them tomorrow.

If it can't be cleaned and I have to take it off, I may just leave it off and not put in a new piece.

That would be the right way to do it since none of the cars from the day had carpet behind the passenger seat. but you can decide that when you remove it.
