My boss is willing to sell me a 1969 351w, he says its a factory 4bbl which means it would be a rare one year only 300hp 351w 4v. Does anyone know the casting number or marking number that might be on the block to confirm. It might not even be a 4bbl he hasnt looked at it in a while. Also, Is there any problem with aftermarket heads and intake for these shorter deck 351w blocks (1969-1970). Any idea what its worth, he'll probably let it go for 300-400 bucks.

C9(xx) 4 digits for 69. Snap that puppy up. They had better heads and larger valves. I had one years  ago and for a windsor it had serious balls! They were not made long and dropped when the 351c came into play. 69 1/2 if I recall correctly. Aftermarket stuff bolts right on but do keep the heads on it!

How much do you think it's worth?

I had one in a '69 Torino GT. It was a killer engine that we ended up putting in a Mustang II. If it is a 4 Bbl engine, is complete, and no serious issues, I'd give $400 in a split second. I think the Windsor was the best V8 engine Ford made until the Modulars came into existence.

early 351W had a shorter deck height, 9.48" vs 9.5" for later years

later years are probably actually taller than 9.5" but that's the published spec

if you go to rebuild it 9.5" deck internals ~could~ cause trouble

He says, the engine is out of a 69 torino wagon, did they even come with the windsor 4v?

Hop on it at that price, Heads alone are worth more.

Turns out its only a 2bbl which is rated at around 250hp what is this worth and what is the difference between that and the 4bbl is it just intake and carb? I had heard somewhere that compression ratio was lower too/

anything & everything can be different between 2 different engines...

piston dish volume, flat top or even dome? chamber volume in the heads, valve sizes, camshaft, distributor calibrations can be & probably are all different

this started out as 'factory 4bbl' is there a chance the intake & carb were swapped out in the mid 70's during the gas crunch?

still a fair deal if you need the engine, of course getting it for less would make it an even better deal

If it is possibly just an intake swap from the 70s how will I tell are the casting numbers different?
