Ok guys another question.
Since this is not a replacement engine but rather an upgrade from a 351W/c-4, I do not have bolts for engine to bellhousing and also the flywheel bolts that mount to crankshaft. I notice arp has the flywheel bolts but not the engine to bellhousing bolts which are just a basic 7/16-14 at 1 1/4 inches in length. What did you use for both sets of bolts in your car? |

bring 'us'(me) up to speed again what's going in place of the W/C4 ? likely the same flex to crank bolts will work for any motor to a C6 ? I used local hardware grade 8 bolts(overkill) to snug up my C6 bell. not factory appearing with the gold iridite plating but I suppose a little black paint would help... or, i'll bet someone here has a stash of factory bolts that'll fit into a std rate box

I would definately use the ARP bolts for the flywheel to crank.
If the torque converter is bolts and not studs with nuts... Grade 8 all the way Same for the bell housing... a set of Grade 8 and forget about it.

Great advice ^^^. Stock 460's (at least all the 429-460s I disassembled) came with a "reinforcing" ring that goes onto the flexplate after you place it onto the crankshaft flange, it spreads out the flexplate/flywheel attachment bolt torque to avoid cracking or metal fatigue of the flexplate. I would recommend using it if possible. Todd

I would check on the flywheel aren't 351's externally balanced at 28oz on each end or is that just front harmonic balancer?

The 351w is sitting outside still. But I do like the idea of getting the arp bolts for the flywheel, new bolts with a high torque engine is always a good thing. New converter came with nuts on it already. I will get some grade eights if needed but was hoping to find some black oxide or something slightly better quality. I can't believe of all the bolts arp makes that they don't have those.
There is an outfit I saw mentioned on 460ford.com called Lem Evans or something. Might give them a call Monday. |

Scott, if the converter has STUDS on it then regular lock nuts(Grade 8) will work. The studs are what takes the power. no worries
