His cardomain page says he's looking for help in fabricating a hard shell or rag top roof... so not technically a convertible YET. Still looks great though... definitely a car I wouldn't mind owning.

Better off with a rag top. I have personally removed and lifted several Torino roofs and they are not light enough to easily regularly R&R by one's self on a driver.

Yeah, you'd be looking at fiberglass or aluminum, and a lot of cash... though it would be *much* easier than designing and retrofitting a custom collapsible frame. Either way you're looking at a decent expense.

A good start would be to find a straight roof and mod it to snap into place. Looking at what he's accomplished thus far, that isn't too far fetched. Then you'd just need to find someone who can copy it using a light weight material. That seems like the more practical solution that he's no doubt considered... but you'd have to be with or without the roof... better be sure about the weather when you leave topless!
