Switching from 351W to 521 means my accelerator cable will no longer work.

Other than waiting for and overpriced one to come available on eBay, has anyone used Lokar?

Paul,

I took a look at that. It seems to have the same pedal end as the Lokar.

The part I am having the most problem with is how to adapt the Lokar (or Spectre) end to the Ford pedal assembly. Otherwise I think it is a fairly straight forward install (but I expect it will take time and patience).

So I have been hunting around and these photos from TheCorral.net seem to be the most coherent:

I think that's about what he did. I don't recall.

I gleaked a throttle cable from a late 60's 429 LTD, it's longer than the stock 72+ intermediate cable

it also had a 3.25 / 9.3" center

I'll chime in.
I did use the Spectre kit. I broke the first one I put it. I got a little over-zealous and stuffed the pedal too hard/didn't leave enough slack on the cable. No issues with the second one. I think the early pedals were different though. That might be why you had an issue. I don't remember. I tried grabbing a cable from an early 70's Lincoln, but the end that hooks to the gas pedal was different. That's how I ended up with the universal cable. Ugh.

Ooops, I think I meant it was a Galaxie... but both ends are the same as the 72 cable, swapped right in no issues
