Good score. Hope you're going to start working on her again. Somebody out there could use those Squire trim surrounds I'm sure.Wink

Finally making a little headway. Moved the car up to our compound where my glass, truck drivetrain, and tools are so it's not a hundred miles away anymore. Today, I got my motor mount bolts out, removed the distributor, put in some bolts to mount removal chains to and now it's ready to come out after I take the hood off.

I hope you're able to work on her often. Glad things are getting started. Good luck! Clap

Yup, no more water inside except for a section of the driver's side front weatherstripping I took out when I was 11. Going to have to take both long windows out eventually for rust repair.

Original engine is now just about totally stripped minus the camshaft and bearings. Only 35,000 miles but a couple of the main caps came off super easily and there were marks/scratches on the front as if the timing chain had been replaced previously. Remanufactured water pump, also.

Brought the car home Saturday and finally got the used engine and transmission in. Got the throttle linkage hooked up, cleaned out the interior, reinstalled some parts I had taken off, etc. Need to install the driveshaft, check the gear oil, change the engine oil and probably transmission fluid, and install new oil, air, and fuel filters. Heard the Torino crank for the first time since 1979. It was a good weekend.

I explain it a little bit better in this video - available in HD, though I just uploaded it so it might only be in 360p for a little bit.

Love it. Me and my brothers spent many hours wrestling in that 3rd row while all the adults up front were smoking away

Thank you all. Yes, I am really itching to drive it and enjoy it considering how long it's been. We would never have been able to put the engine in on our little compound, being that it's on a slight incline and on grass. Bringing the car home just made it a lot easier, and we could close the garage door with inches to spare, much to our surprise. The plan is to try to start it this weekend. Might have driveshaft and shift linkage hooked up by then, but I don't know for sure. Right now in addition to fluid changes and filters, it needs a solenoid that we're going to rob off the Maverick, and a new distributor cap. Temperature sensor is hooked up now also...we'll probably run it off of a gas can for the first start up. The tank looks like it has some surface rust, but it's probably reusable.
