My 77 Ranchero was attacked sneakily by a garden gate.
Now I want to fix the damage and heard that colors have been used in the US in the past (thermoplastic paints?), Which are not compatible with the modern colors in Europe. However, Ford should not have used these. Is that correct? Greets from Germany

Sorry to hear about the damage. Try here for paint code and/or color selection, should be of some service:
Also replied on ranchero.us, good luck

Yeah, It's a Hybrid...It burns gas and tires. No matter how good she looks, somebody, somewhere, is tired of her sh*t. Beauty is skin deep, ugliness goes clear to the bone. |

I need to know if it is Acrylic Enamel or Acrylic Lacquer. I readed that Ford never used Acrylic Lacquer. Acrylic enamel would be better for me to paint the damage because there would be no problems with der european Colors. Edited by schluese - 11-October-2018 at 10:17AM |

Do the body supply shops there have a paint scanner? That might help match the paint more exact that just using a colour code. I agree with John, probably not lacquer, and definitely not if it's original paint. GM used lacquers, not Ford (at least to my knowledge)

Thanks a lot. In Germany we have only one word for "Farbe" it means color and paint. My problem is the structure of the paint. Color is 1G silver on the top.

the paint is most likely a repaint. the texture and cracking indicate a harder than normal "enamel" poss clearcoated paint. don't waste your time trying to do it yourself, have a professional do it. your car is much to nice for a do it yourself job. phred
