Are your horns original? My 73 has a single horn.

They are original. An option was dual note horns, which this had.

i'd use the single wire to trip a relay feeding direct current to both horns, it'll require a little aux wiring

but I've been known to go a little overboard sometimes

Big smile  black version of this i think

i went cheap with a portable tire inflator that's been replaced / repaired more times than i remember Angry i shoulda bit the bullet and got a quality compressor straight off. the 11 gal tank covers the long recovery time but Viair / others don't warranty for anything more than 5 gals (duty cycle). I've melted the plastic piston ring, swapped out reed valves, anybody else's horn ever threw a rod?

to the OP, i recall some kind of a jumper from one horn to the other but i don't remember if it was a plug-in pigtail or what the deal was, anybody else have a splitter on their horn harness?

the horn mounted solenoid freezing in winter gives me fits but I'm not sure i want psi inside the passenger compartment unless i pipe it out with copper or steel

in hind sight i would've gone with a flat arrangement like the Nathan rather than the triangular lay-out,
i had to notch the fiberglass and assemble the horn in place to get it in there. it fills the space from the bottom of the hood latch to the bottom of the bumper cover

www.hornblasters.com has Nathans, build a rack & roof mount that baby! i remember a Chrome Shop Mafia episode the trucker had a HUGE marine horn mounted off the side of his frame

this auction verifies that i haven't completely lost it, the harness isn't IMO worth the time to place the item but you get the idea, it's just a Y branch from the single connection to 2 horns. nothing you can't make at home. a relay in the system will relieve load through the factory wiring & improve horn output FWIW

here's another auction GM style that gives a better picture of an unmolested example

I have 4 sets of the train horns.

Years ago, I had a commercial building in an industrial area that had a single track RR that ran beside my building about 100 yards away. Natural gas substation between it and my building. That road only had traffic during the hours of 8-9 am (coming to work) and 5-6 pm (everyone leaving work). Nothing at night. The track dead-ended into a large commercial building. Every night around 11pm, the conductor would creep up and then blast his horn like crazy. Since the NG station was very loud, we could not hear the train creeping up and it would scare the crap out of all of us working outside on our old cars. No reason to do it, he just enjoyed the reaction it gave us - jumping out of our skin. So one night, one of my buddies just had enough and hooked up a set of the long tube chrome metal horns to my 60 gallon compressor, ran 250 feet of hose out and waited in the dark for the guy to come by. 50 feet away from the track. Here he came, ready to scare us when Tristan let loose 150 psi of air through those horns. I have never heard something so loud. Scared the sh!t out of the guy in the train. From then on, he would just beep as he passed. Still have those old horns, lol.

What happened is I put a 72 wiring harness in my 79 Ranchero and it only had 1 plug for a horn. The car had 2 aftermarket horns on it. Neither worked. I found a working horn on a 71 torino parts car I just got in. It works and has only 1 plug. Guess I will live with 1 horn but problem solved.
Thanks guys!
Jim
