My name is John and I'm back into the cars in which a lot of firsts happened.

I had a q-code in high school and at 54 needed to get a little bit younger and enjoy the simmple things with wheels and no computer.

My username is a reference to my days as a bassist in the 80's. After living life without an instrument for many years, I took out my ols gear and found that arthritis and guitars don't quite mix. Hence the name. It feels like I am playing with rocks for fingers.

Anyway, I am thrilled to be a part of this board and have learned and re-learned things that were second nature where auto repair is concerned.

Thanks to Scott and the mods for all the help I have received in my short time here. Kudos to Rick for helping in my searches and John for answering questions and keeping me on the straight and narrow.

I have yet to get it on a lift but the pics I snapped the other day on a selfie stick look pretty good. Gonna do plenty of ospho wherever I can. One of the typical trouble spots looks good to me. I am sure there will be a few surprises but all in all I won't complain.

I am going to find the covers for the hood scoop grilles, they are not where they need to be. I could make a pair if need be.

Yeah, the blockoff plates. I took mine out when I was a youngster and had to dry the distributor a few times. Of course I tossed the original air cleaner assembly in the trash with the A/C parts to lose some weight. What an idiot back then. Then I met my high school sweetheart and the only thing that mattered was the comfy back seat. Haha

Welcome!  I just turned 50.  Sucks gettin' old.  What I hate most is dealing with glasses now.  Used to have perfect eye sight.  Now, I have to wear these stupid things to work on cars, read, etc which can be quite annoying at times.

Even Neil Peart had to set his sticks down recently.

Welcome!! I just turned 52 and can't accomplish anything without my reading glasses now. Amazing what we take for granted when we're young. Good luck with your Torino!!

53 for a few more months. Can relate to a lot of the rest. Can't see without my glasses now, can't hear as well as I could 30 years ago (Marshall deaf...) and arthritis in my hands.
And Chuck, all those 20+ minute drum solos must have worn out Neil Peart.
The above post should be read in a "Grumpy Old Man" voice.

I was a drummer back in the 80's myself, and last year I thought "Hey that was fun back in the day! Let's get a kit and do it again!" Umm.....nope. Stamina sure isn't what it used to be when I was a youngster. Also, the cat and dogs were tired of drumsticks being inadvertently thrown at them when I couldn't keep a good grip on the sticks. I'll be 50 next year and my bones feel it everyday, but hey....we've still got our cars to give us joy, so it's all good. Looking forward to seeing more of your car!
