I also thought about the plywood option already. We'll see, it's not a top priority at the moment.

A bit more progress: I talked to several professional car restorers about the moisture barrier material in the doors. Turns out I can just use any kind of thick plastic foil I can find. So now I have hardware store plastic table cloth in my doors LOL
Got the front door panels installed again:




And here is a before and after comparison of my floor problem. Could have been worse.
