Hello GTS forum ,
My name is Gary and I recently traded for a 1972 GTS.  It has a 429 with a C-6 tranny.  It is not the original motor and tranny.  It shows to have came with a 351 .  First this is not only my first GT but my first Ford Period.  So I will probably be asking a ton of questions, some will sound dumb I’m sure but I have only owned Chev and Pontiac in the past.  I love the car so far.  The 429 and C-6 are built motor and tranny.  The 429 has D0ve C3 heads , Victor Jr. Intake , big Holley and a big solid lift cam, supposedly all forged internals. The tranny was built by TCI and has a 2800 stall with reverse valve body , manual shift set up. The rear end is a Ford 9” inch with a mini spool and 4.11 gears.  I will be making some changes as quick as I can to make the car more street-able. The car came in primer gray with a black stripe with the original white interior . It was a vinyl top car but had been removed.  I could see a lot of bondo but didnt think it was terrible. As I have started stripping the car I was wrong.  So I have a lot of body work to do! At least the car runs good.  I am not a body man but looks like I am fixing to learn!  Glad to be hear and hope to learn a ton as I start my first Ford adventure.  I will post pics shortly of the way it came and what I have found so far.

Welcome aboard. We do love lots of pics. I would suggest starting a project thread so we can all follow and answer any questions offer advice on how to do something the way we ha e done it to give you some ideas. There are parts available here and californiajohnny will be your first supplier. Haha

Your car sounds like a nice race car. To make it a nice street ride will be fun if that is your goal. Definitely search threads as most everything has been done before. I started reading from the oldest to mewest and the knowledge that returned to me has been priceless. Best of luck.

Welcome to the forum!  I have upgraded you to full privileges, so you have full forum access and can post pics.  It sounds like you have a pretty mean 429 in that car. It must move out okay.  Too bad about the body, but there is tons of info and experience here to help you through the body work.

Wish you guys were closer....Texas being such a big state it's hard to have a close neighbor. Ouch
