Good day All,

Thanks for accepting my request to join this forum. I do not own a Torino at this time but did own a 1973 Gran Torino Sport that was bought new in 1973. Sold it a long time ago.

I currently own a 1971 Mustang Mach 1 - 351 4V Cleveland - C6 Auto - Wimbledon White/White Knitted Vinyl Seats - Factory Air - Magnum 500's.

I'm now searching for a 1972 or 1973 Gran Torino Sport with a 351C or larger engine and in good to excellent shape. Not interested in rebuilding one.

Thanks again and look forward to being a part of the forum and group.

Welcome to the forum Bob! I upgraded you to a new member so you have full forum privileges. It sounds like you have a nice Mustang, feel free to post some pics.  We love Cleveland engines here. Hopefully we can help you find a Torino.

Welcome Bob, glad to have more Cleveland and GTS lovers. My best friend owned three of the big body Mustangs, and two were the white models, all Cleveland's too.

Beautiful car. Those were really under appreciated also, that nice one makes us remember them better. That ram air was really rare too, in the Gran Torino I didn't know it was an option until I joined here. Those have sold for crazy money as NOS kits popped up long ago.

To my fellow Torino lovers,

After searching for several years, the hunt is over after traveling 1,700 miles to bring this beauty home last week. Say hello to DARTH VADER!

1973 GTS Sportsroof, 351 4V Cobrajet, C6, numbers matching and total frame off restoration. Per the Marti report, it is true 1 of 1 GTS. Also, I received the window sticker, build sheets, restoration pictures and receipts for all parts and labor during the restoration and the original parts replaced.

In 1973, my father bought me a new 1973 GTS Sportsroof in exchange for a full ride 4 year college scholarship. Being young and dumb, unfortunately I traded it a few years later for 1978 Ford Custom Painted Van. I have regretted that decision for long time.

However, dreams do come true and I am really excited to have this GTS. I look forward to posting more pictures of this beauty and learning more about the greatness of the GTS from the all the good folks on this forum.

Thanks,

Bob

Looks great. What does the color code on the door pillar have listed for it? Curious if the factory black order came with sport mirrors as well. Happy for you, enjoy the ride. Does it have right side mirror as well? Post up the Marti, we love that stuff.

The car is at my home and I'm at my office now but I will check the door for the paint code. It is listed on the Marti Report as a special order paint. Yes, it has the passenger side sport mirror. I'll post the Marti later as the file I have is to large to post.

Amazing Torino!!  Please post the Marti, I'd love to see it.  FWIW, as far as I know all Torinos with special order paint had chrome mirrors.  However, it is possible during the restoration the sport mirrors were added.  Picon did this to Lazarus, a black '72 GTS.

That was what I was getting at in regard to the mirrors.  And Old Lazarus is an amazing machine.  Paul had a bit of bad luck from what I remember reading in his build thread. Love that car and would have bought it for sure if given the chance.

No, only the driver side is adjustable. It was an added $12.74 option and the dual racing mirrors were also factory at No Charge according to the window sticker. Below is the Window Sticker and Marti Report.

The car had special order paint but no code is indicated.
The window sticker says: "Special Order 22 2701 - Special Paint PTO 222701.
I have been through the receipts and resto paperwork and no paint is included.
The paint is a deep black with ceramic coating.

Can anyone help me out on the paint code?

That proves it is a true special order. The DSO also is a dead giveaway. Very nice.  There is no paint code. Period.

22 may be the DSO and the 2701 may have been a factory paint number.
