I am holding a piston in my hand out of my 1974 351C. Can someone help me to identify if this piston is a factory original ? Piston has 8-740 marking on it. Thanks for helping.....

Start by measuring it, see if it's a stock size piston or a .030 over, etc. I thought you said the block on your engine was already bored? If that's the case, they are definitely not original pistons.

at one time piston oversizes of .010", .020" etc through .060" were common shelf items, .080" was even a thing early on. 8-730 doesn't ring any bells, get a caliper and measure the bore itself and the piston.
