Hello all

Its been a while since I have been here but I am now the owner of a 78' Mercury Cougar XR-7. Its a 2 dr., black with red interior 351W with a c6 tranny. We are currently putting the motor in it as there was no motor in the car when I bought it.

I keep hearing that the xr7 Cougars have a heavy duty suspension. I just wanted to know what size the front and rear sway bars are on these Cougars. I can't seem to find that information out anywhere and I planned on doing some suspension upgrades but I just need to make sure before I go getting different sway bars and such.

What size tires will fit comfortably under these cars. I want to urn 275/60R15 on the back and 235/60R15 up front. Just wanted to makes sure that there won't be any rubbing issues on that. I also have I believe 15x7 rims but they might be as wide as 8 I need to double check that. Ohh and any recommendations for white letter 15" tires would be cool too.

umm...I can't really think of anything else right off the top of my head but if I do I will make sure to post it. Thanks in advance

Peace,

P.S. I will try to get some pics up as soon as I can but don't know how long it will be

The rally/sport style suspension (xr7) usually has a 1 1/8" front and a 1/2" rear.

Those tires should not rub at all. I've done 275 60 15. I run 275 50 17s on mine currently.

BFG T/As are always a good choice for a white letter.
