Ingersoll Rand 326G 3-Inch Edge Series Cut-off Air Tool, Black
Ingersoll Rand 326G Cut Off Tool - 3" dia.

So I needed a cut off tool for getting the bed off my pickup. I did some research and found this to be a good tool at a good price ($54, Amazon).

I am a big and long-time fan of Craftsman tools, but the Craftsman cut off tool had a plastic shield, which one reviewer stated had melting issues when cutting metal (makes sense).

So I got this one and some Shark (made in USA) cut off wheels, 1/8".

Got it hooked up to my Craftsman Professional 25 gal, 1.6 HP, 110V compressor and started cutting.

It is impressive. Noise was not obnoxious. Vibration was not bad (there was some hand/arm fatigue at the end of the day). Smooth running & lots of power.

Only issue is that the tool is very air hungry. I imagine all cut off tools are. It would drain my compressor in 1 minute or two, and my compressor would take 3-5 minutes to recharge. So my duty cycle time was quite low as a result.

Overall, highly recommended. Nice tool, great performance. If I had a compressor that could keep up with it, I imagine it would cut for hours with no issue.

With the size compressor you running it will struggle. Tools like that are real air hogs and most non commercial compressors struggle with them. My last one was 60 gallons and still had relatively short duty cycles.

Yea, it would empty the poor compressor in a minute or two. Nuts. Great tool, just super hungry.

And I really like my compressor. Bought it in 2006. But now that I have this tool, I wonder if I need a 230V bolt-to-the-floor monster.

My understanding is that DA sanders are even worse for air hunger.
