These two were the least expensive I could find on eBay shipping from the US; $65, still not cheap.

If you dig around you can find it a little cheaper shipped from China.

It's a wide band, must have been one of the first in production. Didn't know anybody was using them back in '98.

BTW, probably should double check the part # just to be sure these would fit.

the HX is pretty bad ass. It's a very unique car. I'm not surprised the O2 sensor is special. Does yours have the CVT?

What is a cvt changed ox sensor. Keeps saying evac system problem We have replaced whole system still wont pass. Garage said must be in computer time to retire car I guess.

HX models in that style are pretty highly sought after. They were designed with maximum fuel economy in mind and had quite a few special parts. Even the wheels and some seats were made lighter. Most had 5 speeds, some were 4 speed automatics, all had special gearing to get the best MPG. I'd sell the car to a tuner or someone in a non-emissions county.

Do you mean "evap system"?

In the Ford system I'm familiar with there is a purge valve, a canister vent valve, a tank pressure sensor, a carbon canister, and then all lines to and from the gas tank in the system.

To test the system, the computer closes the vent valve while purging to pull vacuum, shuts off purge, and then checks to see that vacuum is held in the tank.

Most common failures on Fords is the gas cap leaking and the canister vent valve stuck open/not sealing. But on an older car you can start getting leaks anywhere.

What code are you setting, P0455?

CVT came out much later. EG and EK Civics just got 5 speeds and the occasional 4 speed auto. I'm biased, but a huge EG fan.

Now you have me checking myself. I'm almost positive the HX trim level came with a cvt starting in like 96 or something.
