Bought these from a cool guy on CL, but don't know who made them and they do not seem to be 3/8" of an inch lower than stock, as some posts have indicated that Crites are lower. The fact that they appear to be the same lift as stock makes me think they are not Crites. The photos on the Crites site are too small to tell.

What do you guys think? Crites?

Do you think I should just use the stock mounts if I beef them up?

Those fabbed up mounts look kinda skewed to me(angled), I would rather use stock mounts if they are in good condition. Just remember, most headers and aftermarket oil pans are made/designed off of measurements using the stock mounts. Just my honest opinion though.

They look similar to Crites.The angle is what gives the 3/8" height difference

I'm running Factory CJ manifolds and stock CJ oil pan.

Yes, wanting to use stock mounts but concerned about the high torque numbers(540). The '72 429 was rated at 205HP, torque?. I'm thinking if I beef up the stock mounts, design-in an anchor on each mount and a torque bar on the driver side, that might be better(?)

Those look like they are a fullsize mount with a fabbed frame bracket.  As long as the engine is located correctly, they are fine. Lower bracket ears look odd, but they were made angled to allow access to the mount-to-block bolts. As far as them being Crites... No, probably D.I.Y., although some of the early Crites lower mount brackets were kinda rough looking.
Your original mounts are plenty strong, but a torque strap is a good idea.
If you have '72 mounts, they revised the block plate in '73 to strengthen it.

I run stock OEM mounts with a 521 big block and I haven't had any issues with the mounts yet.

Crites lastest mounts look rough as f**k as well.....they aren't worth the money they're asking based on the fabrication.....if I'd known how poor the welding was going to be I'd have suffered and made my own

Going to be removing them and using plates instead once I have some time and money

Here are two images of the stock 429 mounts with the side gaps now filled with urethane. Hope the stock rubber is compatible with 3M urethane! Shocked

I used urethane before I went to the motor plate. It worked for awhile. Hope you used to primer. Make sure to use a torque strap.

You can also drill those in the center and put a bolt thru to hold them together but it will transmit more vibration to the chassis.

These original mounts, improved with the added 3M urethane, fit the GTS chassis like a glove. Everything went together perfectly. The motor & trans just dropped right in, cross member bolted right into the rear row of holes in the frame. The stock C6 trans mount fell right in place. Motor sits at stock height in the engine bay. Couldn't be happier. Made a torque strap out of chain, added a white zip tie as an early warning device, and the current set-up holds all my right foot is willing to give! If you can go with stock mounts, it sure worked for me.

 Thumbs Up Nothing like using the OEM factory engine mounts, especially for a BB in an intermediate chassis.
 
 Seems like most of the aftermarket ALWAYS builds stuff for us(Ford guys) as an after thought or their not fully determined to make the pieces correct and/or to the best of their ability. Kinda like they are all GM at heart and build/manufacture parts so they can revel at our frustrations OR the engineers were seemingly taking the day off when the part was OK'd for production.

I have a set of the Crites mounts, and almost used them, but when I test fit them to the frame, the frame saddle was something like 3/8" too wide and there was slop. 

I agree with an earlier post that the quality of recent (mine are 5 years old now) Crites mounts is $%#^. 

I went with a good used original set from eBay when I did my 521. I'm happy with it, but I think finding replacements will be tough if these fail in the future.

Is there a source to rebuild factory motor mounts?

Doubt it.....

Crites ones also need to be put on piece by piece! I just re fitted mine today and forgot how much of a pain they were. Had to unscrew the centre bolt to give about 3/8ths slop either side, undo one of the engine mounts just enough on one side to pull it away from the block another 1/2" then I managed to get the bolt in, drop it down and stick the bolts back in.

Such a pain. I'm going to be fitting a motor plate when I get a chance. Get rid of these crap things

Saddle slop can be addressed by using spacers (Ever put an Olds engine on Buick 231 perches?)
But you still need to dick around with the center bolt to get the angles right.
Still think you would be better off making up frame perches to adapt either fullsize mounts, or truck mounts.

Anyone who could make solid and reliable perch adapters or cannabilze parts from both a new full size and used mid size mount could command a steep price indeed for a set of them.

yes crites  a pain, the only reason I went that way is they help with fitment of their headers
