Hello All!

Need some advice on replacing my laser stripe on a 72 Torino. The stripe on my car has some imperfections and I want to peel it off and put a new one on....

Anyone done this without destroying the paint underneath??

All advice and tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

If you are looking for someone to do it for you, these guys do a great job:  http://www.speedshieldusa.com/ " rel="nofollow - http://www.speedshieldusa.com/  ;
They installed the clear 3M "Bra" on my wife's SUV back when it was new. I'm sure they could remove and re-install your new stripes at a reasonable price. They are located in Addison, TX. Hope this helps!

I think it is possible, but I don't know the process. When my Torino was nearly new, my Dad had to have part of the stripe replaced under warranty due to a flaw.  The Ford dealer back then replaced it without damaging the paint.

 heat gun or hair dryer, heat just enough to slowly peel it off, heating a few inches ahead of the peeling edge if the vinyl starts to shrink or stretch move the heat source further ahead and away from the area you are pulling. go slow and even Wink
 auto paint supply stores sell a 3M rotary eraser wheel that goes in a drill they work too but are about as slow and the wheel disintegrates, but won't hurt the paint.
i've used both methods... wheel works best for small vinyl pinstripes, heat gun works better on larger stickers
