What's up guys!
It's almost Spring and time to start working on a project I picked up late last summer. It's a 72 Montego GT Q code 4speed. She's been neglected for years and about time someone got her back to her formal glory!
I'll be looking for some advice along the way as well as seeing your projects for inspiration.

Cheers!
Ed

Welcome!! I have upgraded you to full member status. Montego GTs are sweet cars especially a 4-speed. We'd love to see pics.

Here's a link on how to post pictures:

Welcome from St. Louis, and it's good to see another Montego owner on here! We're definitely surrounded by the Torino guys, but besides that, it's a great group to help you along with your project.

Yes! Pics!

So this was the day I brought it home. It was filthy! you can see by the seats how much dirt was caked on in the interior. Dead My nephew and I Gutted it and scrubbed everything. Since then a new Holley carb and a new ignition coil and points were added as it was running rough as Rick may remember from the night I met him. It looks like it has seen its share of accidents as I cant find a panel without filler in it. I did pick up a donor car out of Vegas (almost 100% rust free!) a few months back and so now I'm ready to start cleaning her up

Thanks Andy!
Her frame is clean and the motor was rebuilt prior to me getting it. I have the build sheet as well as the parts list and from what I read the compression is up over 10:1 a mild cam as well as all new upper motor bits. She's now running considerably stronger than stock. How much HP...? I'd like to get it on a dyno and tuned properly later this spring after I replace the exhaust with some long tube headers and such.
Cool

And in case any one wants to know, heres part of the Marti Report. And yes, it was blue once before someone thought this lovely shade of burnt rust red matte would look better!

I'm planning on it Rick and Johnny.
For this year I'm planning on some front suspension work, brake upgrades and a new exhaust. I'll also be tackling the floor pans, fenders and doors. maybe some other odds and ends but that depends on time.
BTW, do you and or anyone else in the forums know a local metal guy?

Looks like a great project!  Although I have a '72 GTS, I still think the '72 MGT is a great looking car in my eyes.  There's no doubt they are far more rare than a GTS.
