Got a 93 5.0 for my 72 no place to put a fuel pump on the timing cover has anyone put the older cover on with the fuel pump holes

Yes. it bolts right on. You need to make sure that you have the fuel pump eccentric and that it has both parts. Also check that the eccentric isn't going to rub on the cover.
Timing pointer NEEDS to match the engine/balancer, not the timing cover.
there are several pointer sets and a "10 o'clock" pointer and a "11 o'clock" pointer will bolt into the same spot.
If you are converting to carb, you will need a steel drive gear on a duraspork distributor.
1985 mustang with a 5 speed manual trans and 4bbl is a good source.
Other options include swapping the gear on a regular torino distributor.
If you are running the H.O. cam, or more aggressive, you will want more gear in the rear end 3.23 or 3.55 because of the weight of the car and the cam's powerband.
Also consider the advance curves in the distributor.
