OK guys, trying to get everything in order for the reinstallation of my OEM AC system. My question is has anyone used the attached R12 refrigerant?

Just remember Joe, you asked for input...…………….........…...................................................……..PLEASE NO, DON"T DO IT!
R12 from China????? REALLY! After all the work that has been done, you are now looking at or willing to put Chinese R12 in your ride. All I can say is mailto:F@&%" rel="nofollow - F@&% NO, remember a few years ago when they found the BS(IIRC elevated levels of Sulfur) in all the Chinese drywall that corroded all the copper wiring/plumbing lines in new houses, how'd you like going back into your Torino to replace all the A/C parts(condenser, evaporator, compressor, POA valve and etc) due to substandard R12. Yeah, Chinese F12 IS really R12 Ouch, that and a Chinese Honda clone engine is the same as a real Honda engine Wink. There are too many 12oz or 14oz cans of American made R12 that can be found locally at just about any weekend swap meet to risk so much with using Ching-Chow R12, just my opinion.

Yeah, It's a Hybrid...It burns gas and tires.

Todd..... thanks for your input & DULY NOTED!!

There used to be an alternative here in the states (FR-12) at one point marketed by Pennzoil that was called FRIGC and manufactured by Intermagnetics General Corporation but not having any luck locating it.

I'll be keeping my eyes open at the swap meets!!

Sorry if my reply came out as a rant, not intended.
Here is what I would buy over the oversees R12:

For me a better option would be finding/buying a 30lb jug of R12, just as long as there is 10+ lbs(empty 30lb jug weighs 5 lbs) you should have enough for at least one recharge. Less potential problems when using the larger jug. Once again, sorry for the above rant.

Todd,

No, I didn't take your earlier comment as a rant.... just bringing up a valid point I hadn't thought about!

I've done a bit more surfing and found a statement from the manufacturer thanking Pennzoil for their help in marketing the product and taking over Pennzoil's customer base. They also mentioned FR-12 would now be marketed as R-416A.

I found some of the Frigc FR-12 R-416A cans on line as well (by Aspen refrigerants), so I'll check locally and see if any AC shops in the area can help me out or whether I need to source and stockpile my own refrigerant.

Still value everyone's input!!

an open / used large can could be recovered from various sources,

not that there's anything wrong with that if filtered & separated but you don't really know what it is

always a good point about anything from there including food products Dead

like getting jaked in the drive-thru on a road trip, what are you gonna do return it?

I've got some R12 cans left from when I had the Cougar. I think I have enough for a full charge.
