Need some Header help - 1971 GT

1) 351 car converted to 429 with Hooker Super Competition Ceramic Headers. Problem with this set up = on the passenger side, one of the pipes based on the way they are configured, hangs down 2-3" lower than all the other pipes. Lower than all the pipes on the drivers side too. So, when i even let off the gas and/or brake, that pipe on passenger side drags on the ground and is already squared off. I order 429 shorty headers but the cross member and engine mounts are in the way for that install to take place.

I'm already at a frustration point - looks like 429 Race headers are a bit more snug but there height/clearance to the ground doesn't look much improved over what i have!

Thoughts - 1) we have already installed 2" front spring lifts to even get it on a trailer to get home when purchase. 2) Are there a set of headers that plug and play with this configuration that you can show me work? Console, PS, PB add to my issues. 3) should I just buy some stock exhaust manifolds for this as an easy and tucked solution?

Thanks all in advance for the input!

You should try FPA headers:

http://www.fordpowertrain.com/" rel="nofollow - http://www.fordpowertrain.com/

They list a shorty header for 429-460 engines that might work.  It only shows on the Mustang page, but it should fit a 1970-71 Torino too since they are very similar chassis.  Most headers list that they fit 65-73 Mustang and 66-71 Fairlane/Tornio.

Did you do the conversion to 429?
Is the engine sitting level from left to right?
The 67-73 Mustang, 66-71 Torino/Fairlane and 66-69 Falcon are all variations on the same chassis.
Engines sit at different angles/heights in different models and years based on mounts and associated bracketry. And those parts will bolt up in different chassis than they came in.
Mix-and-match parts cause odd problems.

Hello All.

I actually just purchased the FPA 429-460 69-70 Mustang swap headers for a 69 Montego I just got.

Speaking to Stan, he said they fit perfect, and guaranties there to be no fitment or ground clearance issues.

With shipping and the CeramaChrome coating, they cost $1099.00.

What can I say, it's not 1974 anymore...

Does anyone have a working phone number for them? I’m trying the one on the site and it dies after one ring

I used the phone number on the site, and I have been exchanging email with them. I think they are just pretty busy.

My new headers showed up today, looking at my email, the order confirmation was on 5/15, and he said it was a 6-8 week lead time, and it was about 9 weeks.

Nice stuff, totally worth it.

I didn't post a picture, but my name (all customers names) are stamped in the flange on both headers.
