Hello all, On my way home tonight, my dash lights would go on and off every so often. If i wiggled the headlamp switch they would come back on....also I would hear a "click" coming from under the  dash? Am I looking at a bad headlamp switch or cluster regulator?

Also my wiper motor is slowing dying, has anyone here rebuilt theirs with success? If so any links to share?

thanks for your time.

cluster regulator just controls the voltage to the gas gauge and such

be aware that for a long time now( though I’m not sure if it extends back to our vintages), vehicles are required to be wired so that if the dash is dark, the rear of the car is dark.  It’s a safety thing.  If your headlights go out you’ll notice it, but if your taillight are out your dash goes out too— otherwise you’d not know until either you get pulled over or someone rams you from behind.  I’d first start looking for a new switch

IIRC there's a circuit breaker inside the headlamp switch, it's dying

think about doing a headlamp relay set-up with the new switch,
it'll take load off the switch so it lasts forever and supply higher voltage to the headlamps so they run brighter

it could be as simple as the rheostat losing contact but the clicking sound suggests a breaker or relay resetting

hopefully your new switches will cure the glitch Thumbs Up

Added a relay kit similar to this, stopped my headlights from going out when the internal switch relay would overheat. my dash lights never went out though so I think its probably the dimmer part of the headlight switch.
