Hi guys!

Been awhile since we've posted anything since we've been busy with a new house and stuff. But, we are continuing the restoration of our -76 torino wagon!

We managed to find a wagon here in Norway that we bought for parts. (It's not in a good shape) But the parts we wanted are in good shape! Which is good.

Some Photos:

Issue we've run into now is that our torino doesn't have that handle and the ability to open the rear door sideways, but this part car does. Altho.. it doesnt work..

So my question is.. Does anyone know how its suppose to work? Or know of any manuals or something for us to like read about it?

Welcome back!

Here is a short video that may help give ya an idea of how the tailgate works. This video is from a 71 tailgate, but the 76 tailgate is very similar as I have dug into my Torino wagon's tailgate a few times for various repairs.

Hello and thanks for the welcome back! Big smile

That is the only video I found, unfortunally he focuses more on the middle handle. He says something about the spring beeing loose, but the spring on the right handle isnt loose.

We can kinda see what is wrong, cause as you pull the handle it doesnt pull anything. Does the middle door handle have to function in order for the right door handle to work?

Cause the middle handle doesnt work either, but it works on our torino so we wanna use only the door and handle. (If we can fix it.) But thanks for the link tho Big smile

Here are the parts diagrams for the tailgates. Hopefully this will help you figure out what is wrong.

Vince,

Go to the text section of the parts book and provide him the actual part number for the latch and he might get lucky and score a NOS part! My service manuals are at the dealership so I can't have a look right now, but if someone has theirs hand to check, see if there is a repair procedure on servicing the rear door and provide Tommy a copy......

Good luck guys!
