Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the forum from North Texas (near Wichita Falls). I've been messing with old cars for over 40 years. I've had stuff from 1 liter British sports cars to a one ton truck with a Triton V-10. I learned to drive in a mid 70's Torino Elite and have owned a 64 Galaxy and a couple of Mustangs through the years. I joined this forum because I just picked up a 72 Ranchero. It has survived at least two fires, one internal and one external and it has had a 460 swapped in place of the original 351.

It took a few tries but there she is in all of her crispy glory. It's gonna need a new windshield but at least none of the body panels gut burned up. The windows were open a couple of inches so the interior took a lot of smoke damage when the garage it was stored in burned. So far I've hosed it off, changed the oil and reconnected the transmission kickdown.

Hi,

Cool car, doesn't look too bad and looks pretty solid all looks as if all the trim is present. What's it running Cleveland or Windsor ?

You going to go original paint or a new colour

Keep us up to speed with progress and piccies.

Nick

It started life with some flavor of 351 but it currently has a 460. It looks like it had gold paint with the ginger interior but I'm leaning to white with a blue interior. Overall it is pretty complete, just neglected and smoky. The driver side tail light had melted but I've already replaced it.

Way cool. Have you ever considered putting a cap on the back?

A cap wouldn't be out of the question. I'm still sorting through it to see what i have to work with.

Welcome....there is guy in Kennedale (over by Texas Motor Speedway) that posts parts on Craigslist every now and again. When I needed parts for my wagon he always seemed to have what I needed.

Good luck with your build and who knows I may see ya around at the local car shows. Wink
