The coil & wires have been upgaded, slapped a fresh decal on the
air cleaner lid and polished things up a little.
Otherwise this is pretty much how I found her.

If anyone needs a particular picture of this stock set up let me know.

Nice, you have the perfect car & engine for a replica Ram Air kit.    http://www.fordramair.com/new/artwork/images/products/torino/72_ram_air/72_torino_ram_air_pics.htm -

yeah, I saw that set up & realize the originals are both hard to come by & expensive. I'd either do my own thing or step up & pay for one.

right now I'm trying to figure out how to maximize performance without obstructing a somewhat stock appearance.

the engine has quite a few miles on it and operates poorly.

as I may have to go in as far as the cam it poses the question "how far should I take it". It seems like the right thing is a complete rebuild.

That is a very slick-looking engine bay!

I was surprised to see the "351 CJ Regular Fuel" sticker; I thought the CJ was always a premium fuel motor?

by 1972, engine CR's had dropped so as to not require premium fuel.
I actually looked @ the "regular fuel" designation as a warning to
the unleaded fuels which were lurking in the future.

I'm with you on the p/s pump. Sticker locations are key, now it's time to figure out which one's go where. My favorite has always been the yellow OK though.

What colour is your firewall? Some firewalls came from the factory painted black and some were painted the same colour as the cars exterior paint. My "N" GTS came with the firewall painted exterior "Midnight Blue".

It is painted black.

What do you figure made that determination? Color? Factory?

Mine is an Atlanta build. Schedule date 12/10/71

Color code 4P medium green metallic.

My car was built in Oakville, Canada 12/71 and I think it might be where the car was built.

the firewall color was not an assembly plant thing, it was a mid year change.  seeming to take place around march/april or so.  i've been tryign tocollect build dates on cars that have either to dertimine when.

So we have 2 Torino's built Dec.'71, both with different firewall paint finishes. Do you think maybe the firewall was painted exterior colour when the laser stripe option was ordered? I'm the 2nd owner and my car had the original paint & laser stripes on it when I bought it.

My 1972 Ranchero CJ 4 speed does not have one and does not even have holes fore one. I can take a photo if someone cares. My other 4 '72-'73 Rancheros all have the tree. The H code '72 Squire c6 and the '72 H code GT c4 both have a two nipple tree while my '"73 Q code Squire c6 and My '73 H code 500 c4 both have 4 nipple trees.

As I'm going to be adding the correct "Q" code base with the driver's side vacuum motor, could you show a photo where the vacuum line hooks into the engine?  On the vacuum tree, intake manifold, carb?  Thanks, Paul~

Thanks.  I have the C6 auto; not sure if that makes a difference or not on the vacuum line routing.
