    Posted: 28-August-2019 at 9:17AM
Looking to buy replacement lines for brakes and fuel on my 76 Gran Torino. Both Obsolete Ford and Classic Tube say that they only have these available for up to 1972. Does anyone know if both brake lines and fuel lines are identical for 72 and 76? Or let me know if you have a trusted vendor that I can purchase through.

Worst case scenario - Classic Tube says that I can ship my existing lines to them and they can make exact duplicates of them; however I know that some areas of my lines are bent. esp the jumble of lines feeding in and out of the proportioning valve! So I'd prefer to not have to go this route.

1972 to 1976 should be basically the same, or close enough that you could make it work.

I just checked Inline tube, and it shows all brake lines and fuel line listed as 1972-76 Gran Torino.

IIRC inline tube has them pre-made, i bought all the stainless supplies from classic tube and made my own (not the long ones under the car they were good shape)

Thanks guys, I'll look into inline! Also classic tube can make them in stainless steel if I opt to go for the 72 kit. I think I'll go for that and modify it, but hopefully not much will be needed! But definitely going to do a bit more research before pulling the trigger.

You can get stainless fuel and brake lines from Inline too.  They offer plain steel or stainless.

Yeah I took a look on their website today. In your experience using their kit, did everything line up easily enough? Even the lines to the prop valve?

I didn't use them for my Torino so I can't comment on fit. My original lines were good. I just wanted to make sure you knew that inline offered stainless options too.

I would think either company would be pretty close but the lines might need a little adjustment by hand to make them perfect.

i'd suspect the listing that stops at 1972 is actually a set for 1971 and steer clear

many vendors have trouble with the break-off date for the change from unibody (1971) to body on frame (1972)

If I keep all my original lines for reference, is it safe to get the 72 kit since it would be similar enough? Or did the locations and bends in the tubes change significantly between unibody and body-on-frame?

I was thinking the same thing about the 1972 listing being incorrect, but I checked the catalog and it shows a separate part number for brake lines for 1972-73 Torinos compared to 1970-71.

Looks like inline tube is having a labor day sale through Tuesday, I'll order their kit after I confirm that it fits my 76. Plan B is to send my original lines in to classic tube for them to create an exact match.

if the line nuts are installed on the new lines the difference between years can be the size of the threads into the wheel cylinders, just a guess.

possibly the size of the tubing itself?
