As far as thermo-switches and related waste, yes, but...
Make sure the dist vac is hooked to ported vacuum. If your dist. vacuum has 2 ports, replace it with a single port version, and you may have to play with your timing setting to find the "sweet spot".
Duraspark ll works pretty good, and the ignition brain functions just fine independently without the vacuum switches.

yes, what randy said, ported vacuum, readjust timing and idle Thumbs Up to find ported vacuum: find the one that has no vacuum at idle/then vacuum only when you open the throttle a bit

look around the base of the carb for a small line, check for vacuum- no suck at idle, then bring the rpm's up about 100 or 200 you should feel suction then, if so then run a vacuum hose from there to your dist advance

Brake Booster and transmission modulator valve get manifold vacuum. (ususlly a big tee at the rear of the manifold)
If you have an A/C car it uses manifold vacuum to control the heater. There should be a "coffee can" on your left inner fender that is a vacuum reservoir. (these usually fall out of their bracket and get stuck in the pocket by the hood hinge)
