Hey guys, I appreciate and thank all who have helped me look for a frame. I went to a junkyard to day and found a 72, and I swear its the only other 72 in northern Texas but I think the car may have rolled or had been picked up by a crane or something because the roof is heavily damaged, but the body doesn't seem too bad, but I want your opinions on it, I looked and from what I could see it looked ok, there was also like 5 or 6 other 74 on up torinos that had good bodies and frame, do u guys think I should take a chance on it being straight or make one frame out of two? But do u think its straight?

You said the body's good, so the frame should be good. Any pics of the other cars?

I wish, my grandpa was rushing me, he wanted to get out of this Texas heat, but I think they are mostly 74 and 75 cars and one 73 I think there's 6 others, even a couple 4 doors but they all had straight bodies and not rusted out and he also had a 73 (I think) montego mx that has a running 429 4v with a c6 that he wanted to sell me for 250 bucks ( just the motor and tranny) he sells all of his stuff pretty dang cheap, he said 100 bucks for a frame, ill try to get more pics of the other cars soon.

It's an N code assuming the 429 is original at least. An S would mean it came with a 400.

Bumpers look straight which hints the frame may be too. 73 frame is also the same as 72 except for the front and rear bumper mounts but those can be swapped to 72 type.

Yeah the interior was really nice, all white leather, it looked original, and for a 72/73 frame swap you'd have to do cutting and welding right

Yup, lots of good parts there. Most surface rust I've seen on one of these cars.

frames can be straightened... that said, I don't see any serious body damage that would suggest that the frame is wrapped. if I was looking for a 72 frame and that was the only one I could find, i'd be all over it. a few minutes with a 25' tape and a helper should tell you whether it's square enough to start cleaning up or if it needs a tug or 2 at the local body shop

pay attention to the first crossmember where the strut rods attach, mine took a low hit and needs to be pulled back to where it belongs

are you going to load it with 1972 front suspension or find yourself some 'normal' 74+ control arms & spindles?

aren't some of the rear bushings different in 72 / early 73 too? several aftermarket options for upgraded rear control arms Thumbs Up

My car is a 72 so it will be exactly the same, I'm just worried about the straightness, but why would I want the 74+ controll arms and spindles? And on that last mark I don't think 72 and 73 are different but later on years I think so, which bushings?

I know the 72 & early 73 spindles are different, IIRC they use a smaller outside bearing so the rotors are different too. the 74+ rotors are much easier to find if/when you need them & probably cheaper too?

pretty sure but not positive that the control arm bushings are different also?

it just gets real confusing ordering parts for a 72/early 73, especially on the other side of the counter when the guy sends you off with wrong parts. somebody found that they had a 74+ larger inner diameter bearing on a 72 smaller diameter spindle... not cool! but it went together & down the road

if you can get the 2 sides of the front suspension off one of those other cars I would go for it, just to get away from the model year changes & headaches associated with making sure you have the right parts. if you order for 1975 you'll always get it right. ordering for 1972 you're at the mercy of everybody that reboxed & picked the parts wrong. it's almost guaranteed to be a fiasco unless you buy the parts in person & have the old part with you to compare before you pay. I hate paying to ship wrong stuff back, or eating it because it's barely worth it to ship back

on the rear arms i'm a little less sure but I thought some of the bushings also changed mid-73 ?

That seems like a good idea, but if the bushings changed wont it be hard to put it back on the frame and fitting right?

On the front suspension, get the "Knee Assembly" off a 74-79 midsize . this is the upper & lower control arm, and spindle. get both sides from the same car. this gives you the common, easy to find parts for suspension and brakes. This will bolt on to any 72-79 midsize, or any 65-78 fullsize except unibody continentals. This used to be a common upgrade with late 60's era galaxies to add disc brakes.

as a group the parts are interchangeable, one on one some don't work together

grab a good set of strut rods while you're at the yard, they tend to rust themselves undersized to the point of weakness / failure under the rubber bushings. you can't see the rust damage until you dis-assemble

Thanks for the tip, but I think I'm going to buy a front and rear upgraded suspension kit but depends on the prices, won't the others have rust damage too?

Buy the whole car if its just surface rust.  Remove and sell the hood, cut out the outer wheel wells and put them on eBay for $3.5M (or just start at, like $50 each) take the good white interior parts, clean them up and also put them on eBay and you will have your frame and maybe pay for a few parts.
