I see many different Ford part number wiper switches "on-line". Same part number, some vendors say will fit 1973, some say '70-'72...blah-blah-blah.
Anyone know? Even an after-marked reproduction? Thanks!

I thought they were a pretty universal part, think I replaced mine from a mid 70's pick up. I also sourced a delay switch and module from another 70 something pick up, just have not made that upgrade yet. I am sure one of the experts will chime in with the details soon.

The wiper switches are specific to the 1972-79 Intermediate Ford/Mercs and T-birds. The part numbers are as follows:
1972 w/o concealed wipers: D2OB 17A553-CA or D2OZ 17A553-A (SW-1073) with concealed wipers: D2OB 17A553-DA or D2OZ 17A553-C (SW-1083) with intermittent wipers: D2OB 17A553-EA or D2OZ 17A553-B (SW-1074) 1973-79 w/o concealed wipers: D2OZ 17A553-A (SW-1073) with concealed wipers: D8OZ 17A553-A (SW-1480) with intermittent wipers: D8OZ 17A553-B (SW-1481) It looks like the 1973-79 part numbers are just updated numbers versus those listed in the 1972 catalog (which was published in 1975), so I believe both parts should work. FWIW, the 1970-71 Torinos use a different switch, so the listings showing 1970-72 are likely incorrect.

I am in need of a wiper switch for a 1977 Ford LTD II,
without intermittent wipers.
Question: What is the difference between a vehicle “with
concealed” and “w/o concealed” wipers?
The wipers on my car park below the hood when not on, so I assume
that I have the concealed wipers.
However, that appears to be the case on all of these vehicles, 72-79. The switch for the non-concealed wipers
(SW-1073) appears to be much more common, so that leaves me confused as to how
to tell the difference between these two types. |

All of these related cars have concealed wipers. Ford's smaller cars had exposed wipers though. I'm guessing they are lumping us in with the earlier unibody Torino/Ranchero/Fairlane type cars.
