Still mulling over my options as to what to do with these two cars. If I swap the chassis and drivetrain from the 07 P71 Vic underneath the 72 Torino, now I am also wondering if/how the A/C system could be adapted to the heater-only Torino. Obviously, the compressor, lines, condensor, etc. would be coming along for the ride if I do the swap. But I wonder if anyone has already tried (and succeeded) in adding the later A/C and heater system into the Torino before. The entire dash is already off and the heater box and duct work gone (or at least, removed) so IF it could be fitted, it would be a matter of figuring out how to hang the box and ductwork/route the freon and heater hoses/wire up the electrical and the cables to a controller. Might be more trouble than it is worth, except for not having to drop another $1000+ on the aftermarket A/C system and then trying to source an original box for the factory A/C. Anybody done this, by chance? Always better to ask up front. Thanks!

There is a thread here somewhere that has an aftermarket AC in the dash. I thought that someone also tried an OEM system too, but I couldn't find it. I don't have time right now to work with my dash and the spare AC system I have to try on mine. I don't know how much space is behind the dash, and there will be some OEM systems that are smaller in that space. Some have the system in two parts, the outside piece and the inner, usually it's smaller because of the two piece system. If you can find one that is fairly easy to still get, plus some of the wiring, it's possible I bet to do that swap. The Crown Vic has its AC in two halves, try to find out how large that inner part is within the dash. If it's small enough, that would be great for you, because you have everything, the wiring, ducting, and vacuum lines etc. The CV dash controls were both manual and auto optionally. The EATC control head for that is large, as I mentioned my wanting to adapt that. I'm hoping there is space to the left of the radio for that, where the wiper knob is.
