Do you have one in your car, or any used version? It is likely smarter to send off a used one to rebuild. The cost is a little high and takes a good while, but those will be much more accurate than the original.

Your best bet to make the addition is to acquire a complete cluster from a tach optioned car. They show up on e-bay now and then and there's actually a '68 tach cluster listed now. To add the tach, you need the cluster housing with a hole in it for the tach body to stick through as well as a different printed circuit board. The oil & alt lights are moved to the bottom of tach vs. top & bottom on non-tach 3rd pod (repro circuits are available). You could probably modify existing cluster with large hole. I was able to get a complete cluster when I added one to my '69 a few years back. You will also need the harness from the tach body to the coil (repro's are available) or you can have the tach re-wired to a 3-wire set up for more reliability (I did that). It also uses a different voltage regulator. It gets pricey once adding everything up, so best to find a complete tach cluster.

Yeah...I see the broken one on Ebay...seems a little high for something that will then need a trip to be rebuilt and hoping that would even be possible. Eventually I will find one and check sites nearly daily but I dont have to be in a huge rush....but it sure would be cool for next years car shows

yeah, the 'cool' factor is nice
![]() ![]() It's actually nice to see the rev's when cruising on the highway and such at different speeds. I got a 3.00 and it's ~2K at 50, ~2.6k at 70 if I recall correctly. there's a listing for a 68 tach cluster on St Louis Craigslist , he's even higher than ebay. I paid 427 on ebay for mine in 2016.

You need the tach so you can see how high the rpm's are on the highway. My stock Mark VII LSC's all had 3.27's in them, with an AOD, 2000rpm was at 70mph. It's nice to see that while driving, it can save some gas too.

One of the lots had a gauge cluster in good condition with a tach. As a bonus....i got a really nice black dashpadf for just under 150. Truley...a 2024 christmas miracle. Now to find someone in need of a dashpad
