I came across this lightly modified 1972 S-Code fastback.  It has bucket seats, console, instrument package, A/C and originally had Magnum 500s and a laser stripe. The auction ends in 3 days, currently at $9100.

Here is the listing info:

This 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport is a SportsRoof model that was delivered new to Costner/Eagleton Motors in Maryville, Tennessee, powered by a 400ci V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was purchased by the seller in 2023, and subsequent work included a repaint in metallic copper, the installation of a replacement grille and exterior door handles, re-chroming the bumpers, and the addition of staggered-diameter American Racing wheels. Features include Ginger upholstery with front high-backed seats as well as quad headlights, hood scoops, dual side mirrors, power steering, power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes, a Pioneer stereo, and air conditioning. This Gran Torino Sport is now offered with spare parts, an uninstalled Dakota Digital instrument cluster, a Marti report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

Delivered new in Gold Glow Metallic, the car was repainted under current ownership in a custom shade of metallic copper. During the repaint, the front and rear side markers were shaved, the bumpers and headlight surrounds were re-chromed, and the door handles and grille were replaced.

American Racing 18×8″ front and 20×12″ rear wheels are mounted with faux Shelby spinners and Nitto NT555 tires. The car is equipped with power steering and a front and rear coil-spring suspension, and braking is provided by power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes.

The cabin features twin high-back front bucket seats and a rear bench wrapped in ginger upholstery. Interior appointments include a center console, manually operated windows, a Pioneer stereo, and air conditioning.

The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a Rallye instrument cluster consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, amperage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 92k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership.

The 400ci V8 was equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and aluminum intake under prior ownership.Power is routed to the rear wheels through a SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission.

The Marti report lists a production date of December 3, 1971, along with selected options and delivery in Tennessee.

The top bid was $24K, not too bad. I think it would have brought more if it hadn't been modified from original and wasn't brown.

Reserve not met.

Seller had few images in the comments with it sporting magnum 500's. IMO it's a much better look.

It looked even better before he painted it IMO.  Here is how the car was before he painted it, shaved the marker lights and front bumper.  I wonder where that wheel moldings ended up?

I agree with you Vince, the $24k is a decent price, but the wheel and color choice are big subjective things. I like the Sport stripes a lot too, in fine shape that's a great look. The trim is precious, I hope they didn't lose them etc.

From the comments, the owner wanted $50k for the car. So it was not even close on the sale. It seems he had $50K into the car but thar doesn't mean he can get that out of it.

Paint work these days has become terrible due to the inflation etc, and some wheels/tires can be sky high. I'd guess he paid too much for it and thought he could "upgrade" it to his taste, and someone would love it. People need to be careful about what they change about a car, if the goal is to sell it and make money.

I've got about $5k in motor/drivetrain in my '73 rustbucket but it's not worth $5k. Hard pill to swallow sometimes

$50K?? People are crazy. It's a nice car, was nicer before he played with it IMO. This guy must have seen the original low mileage Q code 4 speed car on BAT that sold for $73K and thought he was in the same league. Nice solid car but ended right about where it should have IMO. A little high considering Tax, buyers premium and transport. I was thinking about trying to contact him to negotiate a deal but now I know that would have been a waste of time.
