Hello all;
Looking for recommendations again. I have a 1972 GTS with 351 and power steering. Manufacture date 7/72. I need to replace the inner and outer tie rods and adjusting sleeves and also the idler arm. I am having trouble finding inner, outer and sleeves from the same manufacturer. The closest I have come is innerreplacing? Tie rods and idler arm in Mevotech supreme, but can't find the Mevotech supreme adjusting sleeves. Is it best to use all the same brand when replacing tie rods and sleeves? I have my power steering gear box, and think I can salvage the pitman arm, I now need the rest. I would think the center link should be ok even though it is original? Please, any help would be much appreciated, I've been looking for weeks now and am about to lose my mind! Thanks again for all your help! Steve

When I rebuilt my wagon's front end (8/72 build date), I used Mevotech inner and outer tie rods, and Delphi adjusting sleeves and idler arm. The adjusting sleeves are just pieces of metal, so I don't think it really matters who makes them.
Center link is pretty durable unless someone really screwed up attaching the inner tie rods, pitman arm, or idler arm and wallered out the hole. A new center link is available from Rare Parts but you'll sure pay for it. I reused mine.

It won't matter if you mix brands on the front end parts. Even when I did my front end over a decade ago, I couldn't get all parts in the same brand. I also agree with Inkara on the center link, it should be okay. If it is shot, PST used to carry them at a reasonable price.

doesn't GM use the same thread on their tie rods & sleeves? there are some stylish aftermarket sleeves if you're interested

I was looking at the Mevotech MS 40754 inner and MES 435RL outer tie rod ends. I found a listing that gave dimensions and the inner is listed as 21" and outer as 5.9". Mine outer measures about 14-1/2" and outer about 5-1/4" overall. The Delphi TA5328 inner is listed as 16" and Delphi TA5375 outer as 5.7".
If the dimension is correct for the Mevotech inner tie rod, it would be too long for what's on my car. Do you happen to have the part numbers of the ones you used? I was all ready to order the Mevotech tie rods and delphi TA5553 adjusting sleeves and Mevotech MK 8185 idler arm, but now I am not sure. I have my car on the lift so I am going down to the garage later to double check my measurements. Please lmk if you have any information that will help. Thanks! Steve

The Mevotech MS40754 inner and MES435RL outer are the ones I used. My adjusting sleeves are Delphi TA5553.
Once I finished the rebuild, I took it to an old guy named Dennis at one of the local tire shops who's just a few years from retiring to get it aligned, and he didn't have any issues with getting it to take an alignment.
