All I did for the doors was use a paint and rust stripping pad for the angle grinder I think it was called rapid strip or something, then orbital sanded with 60 grit then 120 grit! It came out very well so far, I am hoping to do the next door tonight. I am not planning on pulling the panels off the car to paint them.

Haven't gotten a lot done in the past weeks as I have been very sick. Finally feeling better so today i got the car almost completely stripped and ready to sand.

Rolled the car out of the storage tent and wiped it all down, took the dash out and put it in my shop so I can dye it. After some last min. details got the HVLP out and primed the front end. Its really weird seeing the car like this, it makes it seem like I'm finally getting somewhere!

OK! WE ARE MAKING PROGRESS
 ! Got all the bondo and high grade sanding finished today, there isn't a bump on the car  I spent $250 on primer and supplies (PPG OMNI Epoxy Primer), going to spray Sunday morning, fix any dings, or surface imperfections, then seal it. Monday she goes in for paint and should be home by Wednesday, then re-assembly begins!! It will be cool to see it out of its tent that it has been "hibernating" in all winter since thanksgiving, how long do you think reassembly will take? The only problem i can think of is how am i going to get the damn windows back in the doors, they were almost impossible to get out, any hints?WOOHOO! Edited by sauser676 - 18-June-2009 at 5:38PM |
