Disassembling the front end for a rebuild ,when I removed the dust shield from the spindle / knuckle , I noticed the remnants of a foam seal . It is attached / glued to the face of the spindle , around the inner grease seal flange . Is that a part that’s available anywhere anymore ? I imagine it’s there to prevent grit/dirt from getting into the seal area . There wasn’t much left of them , but should probably go back together with something that resembles it . Any suggestions??

Those are basically factory only and made to reduce debris from getting to the seals and bearings. So most people leave what's there in place. You could try to add something if it could survive the heat, but it's not critical.
