So, my brother sold his Cutlass Supreme and bought this:
![]() 1966 Galaxie hardtop, 352 4BBL. Auto trans (appears to be FX trans). Cool car just needs details done. (One thing we noticed is the brakes have been swapped to disc. Looks to be a conversion kit using the Kelsey-Hayes 4-piston calipers (or repros of them). Rotors are not 65-66, they move the braking surface inboard significantly. Brakes are adequate, but barely so as no booster, and a 10" rotor. |

Nice Galaxie, the '66s are one of my favorites. That brake setup sounds different ado you have any pics? 10" rotors seem kind of small for a car that big. Could you use a factory rotor on that spindle? Or would the caliper be in the wrong position. I guess you could also use a knee assembly from a 72 to 79 midsize too. Or you could do Todd's Crown Vic brake conversion.

Yeah, the car is cool, 352 FE thru headers and 2.5" dual exhaust sounds awesome. Body is solid and original. Wheelwell chrome is only thing missing on the body.Thing is, P.O. did the disc conversion, and there is no documentation.
If I were doing it, booster, MC, prop valve and knee assembly would come off a 70s "Parts-Bin" brake car. Everything works, nothing needs replacement now, but better to figure out what he has prior to having a problem. Also, no spare. Don't know what is going to fit, as different rotor kits move the caliper inboard different amounts. Some actually use a GM rotor blank drilled in a 5x4.5 pattern. Calipers appear to be Kelsey Hayes or repop, but have a part # cast in starting with D0... But - Kelsey Hayes 4 piston calipers were earlier. Sometimes detective work is fun, sometimes it's fun watching someone else do detective work.

My 1st car ! Jacked it up in back w/coil spacers so I could put L60s on "chromies" hot 390, which I later found when took it for a valve job at the Ford garage, that they wanted the cam sent back to ford as it was an experimental cam !!?? I told them to leave it alone ! they were telling me they would pay all the cost for new and valve job was being comped ! I was blowing the doors off chevels 442s ect !! I told Ford I would pay for the valve job ! beautiful car !!!!

We had an F-650 dump truck and hauled backhoes and small dozers with. It had a 352-2V. Never had any problems with that truck and it had a few different drivers beating on it.
Nice Galaxie for sure.
