Torinojon -

I am running 215/65X15 in the front and 295/50X15 in the rear - both on 8" rims.

Have a good friend in the Dallas area running the same tires, but is using 10" rims in the rear - makes an already wide tire look wider.

Hope this helps.

Torinojon -

I just found the post you were refering too.  As you already have the 295/50's mounted on 10" rims, you already know they look 'wider' than when mounted on 8" rims.

As far as offset, I have know idea - when I ordered the rims [from JEGS] I was told the offset was the same as stock - is it? - I have no idea.

The rear end is a Currie 9" Ford unit - giving me discs all the way around - and an ABS electric/hydraulic power break unit.

Thought seriously about a manual trans when building this beast.  Was going to try to replicate the fun I used to have in the mid 60's with my 421 super duty Catalina - ex John Zink drag car - ex Smokey Yunick NASCAR car - converted to street use.  But my mechanic and others reminded me that my legs are not what they used to be.  And I am glad they did.  The Merc would not be near as fun if it was a standard.

With the auto and the GearVendor. it makes for an 18 mpg road car, that has a tire busting passing gear at 91 mph - and will do nose to tail cruise-in traffic with no problems.

After seeing your pic, and a couple of others posted in the '70-71 Mercury Cyclone' group on facebook, I ordered a pair of 15X10 rims for the back today.  Just cannot believe how much wider they appear mounted on a 10" rim instead of an 8" rim.
Now if it could give me the illusion of having some traction, I would really appreciate it.

Forgot to add one thing.  If you go to facebook, you might also check out the Jon Kaase Racing Engine page - they have posted a video of a Kaase Boss9 powered 70 Torino, that just won top honors at a Corvette Show.  It is OUTSTANDING!
