To be honest, I hope the seller gets his asking price. That would mean everyone's car just doubled in value!
I guess one could call the person and ask why they think the car is worth so much.....

It's probably hard to discuss reality with someone who posts the Hagerty price guide in the ad, looks at that car, and says, "Yup, that's 'excellent.'"
1972 Gran Torino station wagon, light blue, 351C 2V, prior owner upgraded to 4V (2V heads), originally had a C4 but prior owner changed to C6 for some reason.

What I caught was that it has a new white and black interior. I had to look at the pictures again to see if I missed something new in them. Maybe it was in excellent condition when the interior was installed new, many many years ago.

I have a feeling that the seller's wife wants the car gone but hubby wants to keep it. That is a "this car is NOT for sale" price.

As I understand it, not all floorshifts had to have a console.

That interior has a lot of awfully rough stuff for only 60k.... I find it hard to justify

Hagerty has adjusted their values. They bumped my cars value to $27k shortly after Rick's car sold. No way is mine concourse.

Prices on used cars are up 45% that makes it a 4000 car. Was going to post my 79 for 12000 as I never drive it but I am afraid it might sell

Do you have their current listed values that you can post?

I do not. I am just telling what they have done for mine. When the agent was upgrading my car, Rick's was mentioned from the Hemmings sale and others have been increased in value as well. Actual numbers are a guess at this point. A guy at one of the gatherings made me an offer that almost had me taking the cash. If I ever sell it won't be a local buyer. I don't want to go to a show and see someone else with it and get the inevitble repeated questions that would come with that.

Personally, I take these "estimated values" with a grain of salt. Firms like Haggarty, Hemming and Barrett-Jackson, while encouraging, don't reflect the TRUE actual value. Those numbers are much more helpful to insurance companies and such, but only to a point. I look at those numbers as "for consideration only" as the ACTUAL true value of anything is what you get when you sell or when you settle with your insurance company.

How about getting an appraisal by a licensed appraiser or a public adjuster. Any one try doing that?

Brother had a base model 77 cougar that had floor shift and buckets without a console.
But this guy, he's on drugs or hoping you are.
Not a chance in hell that's "Excellent" condition.

i can't get to $2k

the seller can't be arsed to clear out the interior, vacuum and wipe it down, fark him

new interior missing an armrest?!
that should earn him a Will Smith bitchslap rather than a handshake

not a single detail of how well it runs, drives or stops in the description,
i can only imagine. maybe not

no pics of underside, engine bay or problem rust areas

AFAIC this falls into the same category as ads with no pics, no price, serious offers only,
don't lowball me, email for pics etc and only good for comedic value

gotta even wonder if it's a scam?

No, it's crap.
Notice the paint? or the condition of the passenger fender? The hood? Entire car needs to be stripped before a repaint and I'm thinking hood and fender might even need replacement.
That "All new Interior"? Maybe new 20 years ago.
Funny thing is he doesn't want texts because of "rude comments".
So he knows.
